Artificial Turf Questions
For more detailed answers to the questions below, please refer to our Artificial Turf Resources guide found here: https://turffactorydirect.com/artificial-turf-resources/
Q. Why should I choose artificial turf for my lawn?
A. Turf not only saves you money in the long run but also saves time spent on lawn maintenance. No more mowing, fertilizing or watering. Your lawn can become the talk of the neighborhood. Save money by conserving water, lawn care services, and expensive sod grass! More pros on choosing artificial turf can be found here: The Pros of Artificial Turf
Q. Will artificial turf withstand various climate changes, such as rain or snow?
A. Absolutely! Artificial Turf is constructed to withstand rain, snow, and all other elements it may be up against. Built with a UV resistant polyethylene fiber system. We conduct laboratory testing on all of our turf products to ensure our turf consists of only the most durable materials available on the market. UV resistant yarn, coupled with a dual polyurethane permeable backing, allows the turf to drain better than real grass on most occasions. For more information, please see our dedicated article: Lifespan of Artificial Turf
Q. Does Turf Factory Direct’s artificial turf come with a warranty?
A. YES! Our products come with a written 10 year limited warranty, which is provided at purchase or on request
Q. Is Turf Factory Direct’s turf manufactured in the USA?
A. Yes! As stated above, all of our products are made entirely in the United States. Our yarn, backing, and tufting are completed in Georgia. Beware of inferior products imported from China. While the price may be enticing, the product is typically inferior in workmanship and quality.
Q. How do I clean the turf?
A. Turf needs very little maintenance, which is why homeowners find artificial turf a considerable benefit and time-saving investment! In the Fall, it may be necessary to rack up leaves as needed. Most stains on turf can easily be cleaned and hosed out. We do recommend contacting Turf Factory Direct before using any chemicals on the turf. Typically we suggest testing a small amount 48 hours before applying to the surface. For more information, please see our maintenance guide.
Q. What happens if my dog or pet does their business outside? Will it damage my turf?
A. If your dog or any other pet does urinate or defecate on the turf; let the feces dry, and then scoop it up. In worst-case scenarios, a water hose or a little soapy water should do the trick!
Q. What does the term face weight refer to?
A: Face weight refers to the amount of yarn used tufting the product per square yard. Industry-standard is to provide yarn weight; generally referred to as face weight. This weight does not include the backing material or primary backing. The polyurethane backing adds 20-29 ounces per yard to the total weight of the product. Please refer to our article dedicated to providing additional information here: https://turffactorydirect.com/2016/08/12/terms-need-know-buying-artificial-turf/
For example, TFD 80 Spring Plus is tufted using 80 ounces of yarn per square yard. Quite often, we have customers ask about other company’s specifications in comparison to ours. Our listed weights consist of yarn weight only. Some competitors only list the full weight of the product, including all parts of the turf. Industry-standard recommends providing only the face weight of the material to allow customers to compare efficiently. Please be informed if the company is offering a total weight or face weight alone. Each of our products has full specifications listed under each product tab on our website.
Q: What does the pile height refer to?
A: The term pile height refers to the length of the blade from the backing to the tip of the grass.
Typical pile height ranges:
Landscape: 1.5″ up to 2″ in length
Putting Greens: 7/16″ up to 1″
Indoor Turf: 7/16″ up to 1″
Pet Turf: 1″ up to 2″
Please refer to our article dedicated to providing additional information here: https://turffactorydirect.com/2016/08/12/terms-need-know-buying-artificial-turf/
Q: How do I choose which turf is best for me?
A: There are many varieties of turf available. The average landscape turf blade length is 1 3/4″ providing a natural look and feel. For a pet, consumers choose a shorter pile for ease of cleaning. For indoor use, customers typically want a lower pile turf around 7/16″ with a padded back. A shorter blade length is easier to install and does not require infill. Carpet style turf can either be padded or unpadded.
While it may seem confusing with many styles to chose from — our sales team can give one-on-one advice to fit your needs.

Shipping Questions
Please refer to our shipping page for additional detailed information. At Turf Factory Direct, our primary goal is to educate our customers on how our process works. Currently, all artificial turf is shipped using an LTL carrier. Those carriers use transfer trucks to pick up, move, and deliver products. Turf is an oversized product additional logistical, which has additional requirements than standard parcel deliveries. It is essential to have all the necessary information before purchasing artificial turf online. Our policies are the same as our competitors.
Q. How will my order ship? Will I receive a tracking number?
A. As stated above, all artificial turf orders will ship via LTL carriers, which will require the use of a transfer truck. Please be sure to notify us if a transfer truck will not be able to get into the area noted for shipment. Once the order has been processed and shipped, we will provide tracking information via email. Tracking of LTL deliveries is a bit different than tracking a parcel delivery such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS. Please refer to our shipping page for more information.
Q. After placing my order, how long does delivery typically take?
A. On average, shipments arrive within 5-10 business days. The day the order is placed does not count toward this estimate. If the order is shipping within the Southeast, the order will generally arrive a bit sooner. If the order is shipping to a rural area, it could take a few days longer. Residential deliveries will take an additional day for scheduling. We have additional information on our dedicated shipping page.
